Sure, real life is starting to worry me a bit, the threat of the H1N1 virus is freaking everyone out, quarantine processes are actually taking place to someone I know (he's stuck and can't got to work, in public or pretty much anywhere in fact, much to this active guy's disappointment), and I think something funny is happening between Flight Centre (with whom I booked my flights) and Singapore Airlines (with whom I'm flying!) as they're giving each other the cold shoulder at the mo amidst a airfare price war falling out?
Just hope my flights are still honoured...something I'm definitely going to check on this week as Flight Centre recently dropped the ball with the tail end leg of my flight to Spain, having me arrive into Spain on Monday, 13 July - the day my actual course starts! For some reason they had me overnight (and day) in Singapore?! Why do that when there was an easy transfer a few hours later on Saturday night? Anyway, thankfully I was being pedantic and looked my flights over earlier this month and managed to get them changed...but at a cost of an extra $200. Sigh. You know that saving I thought I'd lucked into at the Travel Expo earlier this year? Well, it's gotten smaller.
But no matter, it's sorted and I've managed to get a reasonable cost and departure time for my internal flight to Seville - I'll be getting into the picturesque city in the early evening and should have a some time to find my home stay, meet my (fingers crossed) lovely family and settle in for a good night's sleep ahead of registration the next morning.
I'm so excited! (I know, I'm a learning nerd, I love taking up courses :)
There are far too many fun and interesting things on my To Be Read pile this month, and I have a suspicion that I might not get around to my wonderful DK Spain book until I've cleared Customs in Perth and am waiting to board the plane... But hey, I have a 20+ hour travelling time to get to Europe and I'm sure I'll get through at least the Portrait, History and Traveller's Needs of the Eyewitness Travel Spain tome and I'll have 2 weeks of Seville to figure out the rest of my journey pattern around the country. Franz (my sister Elaine's fiance) has already given me a
few helpful accommodation tips for budget cool accommodation in Barcelona; they've both been there a few times and I think as I write this, Franz is still there visiting some pals. The next thing up for next month...planning the upcoming Spanish Fiesta! To party sangria style before I fly out :)
By the way, the pic is of Katie, myself and Casey at the Spanish inspired Andaluz Bar in Howard St, Perth. Thanks for the pic Suzanne!
